The Alcohol and Drug Information Centre (ADIC) Sri Lanka has published its latest monthly analysis of media content, providing crucial insights into how alcohol and drugs are portrayed in public discourse.
The comprehensive report is divided into two key parts:
-
- Print Media Analysis: The Library Unit at ADIC meticulously monitors five leading newspapers, tracking coverage across four critical categories: Promotion of alcohol and other drugs, Prevention efforts, Policy implementation, and Law enforcement.
- Electronic Media Analysis: This segment focuses on prime-time television, specifically analyzing TV dramas aired between 7:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. for instances of both alcohol/drug promotion and prevention-related content.
ADIC has shared these reports with the request that they be disseminated among students and other interested individuals. These analyses serve as a valuable resource for researchers, educators, and the public to understand media trends and their influence on societal attitudes toward substance use.
