A library catalogue is a register of all bibliographic informations found in a library or group of libraries, such as a network of libraries at several locations. According to the Wayamba university library experience from the beginning of 2010 every possible facility has given to the reader to search the library collection by using the computerized catalogue with the internet support call OPAC (Online Public Access Catalogue).

It is computer based and supported library catalogue designed to be accessed via terminals so that library users may directly and effectively search for and retrieve bibliographic records without the assistance of a human intermediary. OPAC usually allows searching by author name, title, subject or etc… OPAC provides access to the library’s holdings via a computer monitor, replacing the traditional card catalogue.
